OMEGA De Ville – The City Watch

The OMEGA De Ville watch was introduced in 1960 as part of the OMEGA Seamaster collection. Taking its name from “The City” in French, the De Ville was OMEGA’s offering for a sophisticated and elegant dress watch. The De Ville eventually became its own collection in 1967. In 1999, the revolutionary Caliber 2500 equipped with the coaxial escapement made its debut in an OMEGA De Ville, paving the way for the OMEGA Co-Axial mechanical movements used in the brand’s current timepieces. The coaxial escapement — invented by watchmaker George Daniels — reduces the friction within a mechanical movement, thus allowing the watch to operate with greater accuracy while needing less servicing.

De Ville Hour Vision

OMEGA unveiled the De Ville Hour Vision in 2007, which housed the brand new in-house Caliber 8500 where every component was built within the OMEGA ateliers. The self-winding manufacture movement with a silicon balance spring has 60 hours of power reserve and beats at a frequency of 25,200 vph. The De Ville Hour Vision timepieces have 41mm round cases available in steel or gold and are presented on metal bracelets or leather straps. The aesthetics of the De Ville are very classical with three center hands and a date window at 3 o’clock. The latest versions of the De Ville Hour Vision watches are powered by OMEGA's Co-Axial Master Chronometer Caliber 8900 — the brand’s new generation mechanical movement that is antimagnetic up to 15,000 gauss.

De Ville Ladymatic

In 2010, OMEGA revived their De Ville Ladymatic collection from their archives to offer women an exclusive collection of watches driven by the OMEGA Co-Axial Caliber 8520 automatic mechanical movement. The OMEGA Ladymatic watch dons a 34mm round case and there’s a generous assortment of different metals, diamond settings, dial colors and materials to choose from. The Ladymatic perfectly blends master watchmaking with beautiful designs just for women.

De Ville Trésor

The OMEGA De Ville Trésor is a manually wound Master Co-Axial Chronometer 40mm classic dress watch exclusively crafted in yellow, white, or Sedna red gold. Its straightforward clean dial features three center hands and a date aperture at 6 o’clock on a honeycomb pattern. Further reinforcing its traditional appeal is the choice of black or brown leather straps. OMEGA also launched a ladies edition of the De Ville Trésor with diamond-set bezels and mother-of-pearl dials.

Buying Pre-Owned OMEGA De Ville Watches

When buying pre-owned OMEGA De Ville timepieces, there’s an abundance of choice among the brand’s classic dress watches. For women, there are used Ladymatic watches and the ladies’ De Ville Trésor pieces, while for men, there’s a choice between secondhand De Ville Hour Vision watches and pre-owned De Ville Trésor Co-Axial chronometers at great prices.
