Audemars Piguet – The Watchmaker that Breaks the Rules
Hailing from the famous Vallée de Joux, Audemars Piguet is the oldest watch manufacture to still remain in the hands of the founders’ families. That independence has allowed Audemars Piguet to push innovation and produce some of the most iconic timepieces and beautiful complications ever to grace the luxury watch world.Read less Read more
Popular Audemars Piguet Watch Collections
In 1972, Audemars Piguet shook up the luxury watch market with the introduction of the Royal Oak. Absolutely distinct in its look, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch sports a case outfitted with an octagonal bezel secured with eight hexagonal screws and a dial embellished with a “tapisserie” pattern. Sized at 41mm for men and 33mm or 37mm for women, the Royal Oak is offered in a range of metals and materials with functions such as date, chronograph, perpetual calendar, tourbillon, and more.
In 1993, Audemars Piguet unveiled the Royal Oak Offshore — a larger and sportier version of the pioneering Royal Oak watch. Retaining the octagonal shape, hexagonal screws, and “tapisserie” dial, the Royal Oak Offshore is a dynamic luxury sports watch that is particularly popular for the chronograph models and diver’s watches.
The Audemars Piguet Jules Audemars collection is the classic timepiece offering from the brand with traditional round gold cases, elegant leather straps, and clean dials. The ladies’ Jules Audemars pieces are sized at 39mm and often times adorned with diamonds while the men’s version is 41mm and functions can range from time-only to dual-time to perpetual calendar and others. Special editions of the Jules Audemars collection include high complication pieces such as the Jules Audemars Grand Complication and the Jules Audemars Tourbillon Chronograph.
The Audemars Piguet Millenary collection for men and women is characterized by the large oval shaped case, off-centered dial, and a view of the intricate mechanical movement within.
Audemars Piguet Watch Movement Manufacturing
Depending on the models, Audemars Piguet furnishes their watches with quartz, manual-wound mechanical, or automatic mechanical movements. The manufacture has a long tradition of developing and constructing complications and their most famous caliber is the Audemars Piguet Caliber 3120 self-winding movement found in several Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore watches.
